Descanza en Paz, Betty White

There’s a piece of Betty White in all of us who are devoted to the well-being of animals.  And that piece aches a little as we approach what would have been her 100th birthday on January 17.

We volunteers of Auxiliando Animales (AuxAn) are pretty darn sure that Betty would applaud our efforts in Pátzcuaro.  Our aim is to end the plight of stray and abandoned animals through reduced-cost dog and cat sterilization.

With your support — and the extraordinary work of Dr. Luis Hernández of LaJoya Vet — AuxAn subsidized 1,433 sterilizations in 2021!

That number goes a long way toward ensuring far fewer unwanted animals roaming our area without home or hope.  And we plan to surpass that number in 2022 with the continuing support of local and international animal advocates.

With heartfelt thanks for your past contribution, we ask you to start this new year with a donation to Auxiliando Animales in memory of Betty White — and in honor of your own enduring belief that all cats and dogs should know love.

Please donate any time at http://www.auxiliandoanimales.org/donate

Mujeres Mágicas

Mujeres Mágicas to Benefit Auxiliando Animales

The Mujeres Mágicas of Pátzcuaro are sponsoring a benefit for Auxiliando Animales this coming weekend, Friday to Sunday, October 15-17. They will be donating 10% of ALL their sales that weekend to help with the wonderful work of Auxiliando Animales! The 10% donation will be based on ALL sales, including gift certificates and framed art.

Their shop is open 11-7 and is located in the center of Pátzcuaro on Plaza Grande, inside the Casa de las Once Pizzas, next door to Panadería Rivera.  Your purchase will also assist this group of amazing local women, who have been perfecting their sewing skills for over three years, and who produce beautiful products for babies, children, women and men as well as your home and pets.  Help empower women and simultaneously relieve the suffering of so many local animals.

The Mujeres Mágicas look forward to welcoming you!

2020 Year-end Thank You

From all of us at Auxiliando Animales:

A big THANK YOU to all of our Donors, Vets, Volunteers, Supporters and Friends!

2020 was a challenging year, yet with your support, lifesaving sterilization surgeries for dogs and cats in Pátzcuaro and surrounding communities continued strong!

  • Over 1,100 dogs and cats have been safely sterilized at Dr. Luís Hernández’s La Joya Vet Clinic in 2020
  • An additional 200 cats and dogs were sterilized at a large spay-neuter clinic organized by Operación Mascota in February (pre-pandemic)

Because of you, Aux An has been able to continue supporting these surgeries despite increased medical supply costs and having to postpone our regular fundraising events due to the pandemic.

In addition to subsidizing sterilizations by covering medication and supply costs, Aux An was also able to award a grant to help rescued dogs recovering and awaiting adoption at a local Pátzcuaro boarding facility.

We are looking ahead to a successful 2021. With you by our side, we will continue our mission of sterilizing and supporting dogs and cats and reducing animal overpopulation and suffering.

THANK YOU!

Carnaval Para Los Animales Auction & Raffle

Our Spring fundraiser, Carnaval Para los Animales, held on March 1st, was a great time and a great success. We were able to acknowledge Dr. Luis Hernández Morales and Victoria Ryan for their long collaboration in sterilization efforts and Pátzcuaro. We also introduced Jaz Guzmán of Amigos que Dejan Huellas and Lucille Van Straaten of Operación Mascota, two of our sister organizations.

The event raised enough funds to help sterilize more than 200 animals, which should keep Dr. Luis operating for over two months at his current rate!

We’d very much like to thank our generous benefactors and the many businesses that donated goods and services for our silent auction and raffle. Special mention goes to:

  • Hotel Casa Encantada
  • Gardenias
  • Mezcalería Uasïsï
  • Mezcalería Gran Nahualli

Carnaval para los Animales

March 1, 5 pm to 7 pm

Sorry, we are sold out!  Online tickets are no longer available.

Carnaval para los Animales, a silent auction and raffle to support local spay & neuter efforts takes place at Casa Encantada on Friday, March 1 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

Artwork, experiences, and services can be yours for the highest silent auction bid or winning raffle ticket.  There’s also a mezcal tasting, music, botanas muy ricas from Gardenia’s and the usual delight of conversation with friends old and new.

Dr. Luis Hernández Morales of La Joya Vet in Pátzcuaro, who sterilizes approximately 80 animals monthly at reduced cost, is the guest of honor.

Silent auction bids and cost of raffle tickets are not included.

Trash to Treasures

Our Grand Sale was a smashing success!

All proceeds benefit La Joya Vet Animal Sterilization

We raised enough funds to help sterilize over 450 dogs and cats, enough to keep Dr. Luis busy for eight months, and also were able to provide many local families with a great variety of Treasures at rock-bottom prices.

We are already working on our next sale and other benefit events, so we will be seeking donations year-round. We’d like to remind you to set aside anything you can’t use or are tired of for our next Trash to Treasures, which will be held next year.   If you are leaving town or just absolutely need to get rid of your donations, contact us.

We are currently looking for storage space for donations.  If you can help or are aware of an inexpensive, dry and secure storage space, please let us know.

Stay tuned for our next benefit event in the Spring: a silent auction and mezcal tasting.  We’ll be seeking donations of high-quality goods and services for the Silent Auction.
