Auxiliando Animales (AuxAn) is a volunteer organization dedicated to sterilizing and supporting dogs and cats in Patzcuaro and surrounding communities. Our mission is to reduce animal overpopulation and suffering.

We care about our community and its citizens. By helping improve the safety, health, and quality of life for our area’s cats and dogs, we also enhance the safety, health, and quality of life for our community’s citizens.

We achieve our mission by raising funds to directly finance sterilizations, by making grants for related special projects, and by forming working alliances with other animal welfare organizations.

Veterinary Clinic

BIG NEWS!

Auxiliando Animales and Operación Mascota, two local organizations dedicated to the sterilization of dogs and cats in the Pátzcuaro region, are excited to announce that we are joining forces to be a single organization working toward this important goal. This union will fortify our mutual goal of improving the lives of animals as well as residents and visitors to our beloved pueblo.
We will continue to use both names for a period to make sure that the loyal supporters, volunteers and donors of each group follow us into this exciting new phase. Stay tuned to learn more about clinics, volunteer opportunities and donor support. If you would like to be involved, reach out to Jules Fredrick at jnjfredrick@gmail.com.

Sterilization Campaign

The Auxiliando Animales Sterilization program, in conjunction with Veterinaria La Joya and co-ordinating with Amigos Que Dejan Huella has sterilized over 4000 dogs and cats since January 2017. This campaign helps to pay for medication and disposables, while the client pays a discounted fee for the surgery.

We sterilize about 120 animals a month.  To continue sterilizations at this pace, we need roughly $1500 USD per month.  Even your small donation can go a long way to end animal suffering in the Lake Pátzcuaro region. For example, 300 donors giving only $5 a month, or 100 donors giving just $15 a month would meet our needs!  Then we can move on to even bigger numbers for sterilization, or we can help fund hospitalization and veterinary care for rescued street dogs.

Please consider donating $5, $10, or more a month.  It’s easy!  Please use the donate button below.

Fundraising for us has been challenging during the Covid pandemic, because our favorite fundraising methods involve lots of social contact. We’ve had to resort to the much less fun alternative, raising money online.

Unfortunately, at the moment, we don’t have a way to accept online donations and are working on a replacement for PayPal. Please contact us if you’d like to make a donation.

Descanza en Paz, Betty White

We had a great turnout and raised enough to keep up wiWe volunteers of Auxiliando Animales (AuxAn) are pretty darn sure that Betty would applaud our efforts in Pátzcuaro.  Our aim is to end the plight of stray and abandoned animals through reduced-cost dog and cat sterilization.

In spite of pandemic challenges, AuxAn sets new record for sterilizations in 2021

And more good news…despite ongoing challenges of the pandemic, including increased costs of needed supplies and medicine and difficulties in sourcing, the number of sterilizations has risen in 2021 to an average of more than 120 per month compared to 99 per month in 2020.
