Loma Bonita Fire

Operación Corazones Callejeros

On May 11th, 2019, a terrible fire swept through a neighborhood known as El Paracaídazo, near Loma Bonita in Pátzcuaro, destroying between 30 and 50 very humble dwellings. Fortunately, there were no human casualties, but this left a large number of animals homeless and abandoned.

Our fabulous partner rescue organization, Amigos Que Dejan Huellas Pátzcuaro (AQDH), jumped into action to round up as many dogs as they could. 15 females were picked up, taken to Dr. Luis for sterilization, and then cared for until they could be returned to owners or homes could be found. Your Auxiliando Animales donations paid for the sterilizations while the hardworking crew at AQDH did all the good work.

Amigos Que Dejan Huellas tirelessly works to rescue and support street animals in Pátzcuaro, including rescue, facilitating adoptions, promoting sterilization, and providing and maintaining feeding stations.

If you’d like to support their work, you can always make a donation via Auxiliando Animales, asking us to direct funds to to AQDH. 100% of your donation will go directly to them.
